Inner Dimensions of Health

By Sherry McHenry

Our internal thoughts and mental images are very powerful. Our minds can create heaven or hell, affecting the state of our well-being. We do have the remarkable ability within to shift our thoughts and mental processes through the use of imagery. Imagine yourself for a moment in a healthy, peaceful state. Hold the image in your mind. Imagine yourself full of energy, every cell of your body radiant with light. Just for this moment. Over time, these moments can grow within, affecting the cells of the body, lifting feelings of heaviness. It may not make difficult situations go away, but can influence the ability to cope. I would like to share 4 things that can activate well-being within:

  1. Breathe deeply. Repeat a word or phrase that has special meaning, such as Peace. Repeat it over and over. Try staying with it for 5 minutes.
  2. Let an image or feeling arise that resonates with how you want to be.
  3. Express gratitude. Think of 5 things to be thankful for on this day.
  4. Celebrate life!

Here are signs and symptoms of Inner Peace to be on the lookout for:

  • A tendency to think and act spontaneously rather than on fears based on past experiences.
  • An unmistakable ability to enjoy each and every moment to its fullest expression regardless of whatever others may think of it.
  • A loss of interest in judging other people.
  • A loss of interest in judging oneself.
  • A loss of interest in conflict, sarcasm, or any kind of abuse.
  • A loss of the need for worry and fear (this is a very serious symptom!)
  • Frequent outbursts and episodes of overwhelming ecstasy and appreciation for people and life.
  • Feelings of contentment and connection with others and nature.
  • Frequent attacks of smiling just for the fun of it.
  • An increasing tendency to surrender to the way things are rather than forcing them to happen out of their due time.
  • An increasing susceptibility to the love extended by others as well as an uncontrollable urge to share it.
  • A sincere desire to make this world a better place to live because of your hope for peace, love and prosperity for all.
